The public sector Medical colleges in Sindh require all candidates to appear in an admission test called the Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT). This test is usually held in September / October. The MCAT score counts heavily towards the admission as each student’s cumulative score is prepared with a 50% weightage to the test score and 50% to the Inter result. The colleges covered through this test (for Sindh) are:

The MCAT is held once a year in Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana. A total of approximately 9,000 students appear in this test from the entire province of Sindh, of which about 900 are granted admissions into these colleges. About 400 seats are reserved for the Karachi district. The minimum qualification for a candidate to appear in the Entrance Test for admission to medical Institutions of Sindh is Intermediate Science (pre-medical group) in “B” Grade or any equivalent examination of any other Board / body recognized by IBCC.

  1. The top 1 to 228 students in open Merit list would be offered MBBS in DMC.
  2. The next top 229 to 456 students in open merit list would be offered MBBS in SMC.
  3. The next top 457 to 490 would be offered BDS in DIKIOHS.
  4. Among top 456 students in open merit list if any student wants to join BDS program instead of MBBS program, then he/she is allowed to do so.
  5. After the announcement of merit list, the category from open merit can’t be changed to UEDP (Self finance) and vice versa.

ADMISSION POLICY GOVT. MEDICAL & DENTAL COLLEGES OF SINDH 2016-17

  1. Entry Test for admission to Medical Colleges and Universities in Sindh Province will be held on the same day and date throughout the Province in the month of September/October.
  2. The admission forms will be issued in the 2nd/3rdWeek of September and will be accepted upto 30th
  3. There will be a Common Entry Test for DMC, SMC, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Abad Dental College & Liyari Medical College to be taken by National Testing Service (NTS) Islamabad/Sindh Test Taking Agency.
  4. There will be a Common Merit list of both DOW and Sind Medical Colleges. The upper merit students will be offered admission in DMC and the lower ones in SMC.
  5. At the time of filling the Admission form, the student has to mark for admission in M.B.,B.S. or B.D.S programme or both.
  6. At the time of filling the form, the student has to mark admission on merit basis or on Self-Finance basis or both.
  7. After the announcement of Merit List, the Categories can’t be changed i.e. Merit can’t be changed to Self Finance, or B.D.S. can’t be changed to M.B.,B.S. or vice versa.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ENTRANCE TEST

Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in their Intermediate (Pre-Medical) or A-Level / Equivalent is Annual Examination 2019.

The passing marks in NTS-Entry Tests are 100 for Medical Colleges but actually the students need more than 140 marks for surety of admission in a reputed medical college of Sindh.
